As a BD/Sales Engineer ( Solar, Renewable Energy, Bess), your primary role will be to provide technical support to our sales team. You will assist in project costings, perform detailed site inspections, and ensure that our renewable energy solutions are tailored to meet client needs effectively. While you will not be responsible for direct sales, your contributions will be crucial in closing deals and ensuring client satisfaction.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Site Inspections: Conduct thorough site visits to evaluate feasibility, assess site conditions, and address potential challenges. Ensure that solutions are tailored to the client’s specific needs.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical expertise during proposals and negotiations, assist in preparing technical documentation, and address technical queries from clients and the sales team.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, project managers, and technical staff to align project design with sales objectives. Support the development of technical resources and participate in industry training and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

You will be involved from the beginning of the sales process through to project closure, managing costing for projects ranging from 50kW to 10MW, with a goal of expanding into 10MW+ projects. Additionally, you will act as a key support to the Technical Director, focusing on expanding the project pipeline.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronic, Renewable Energy, or a related field).
  • Commercial experience with a proven track record of successfully closing solar agreements.
  • Proven experience in technical roles within the renewable energy sector, including site assessments.
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, including solar, wind, and energy storage systems.
  • Proficiency in using design and costing software (e.g., Excel, PVsyst, Helioscope, Xero) and familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various project sites as required.
  • Must be an South African ID holder

Advantageous requirements:

  • Experience with project management or coordination within the renewable energy sector.
  • Knowledge of local regulations and standards related to renewable energy installations.
  • In-depth knowledge of solar and battery storage equipment.
