Job Description
We are seeking a technically strong Project Engineer to support the delivery of transmission and distribution (T&D) projects up to 132kV.
This role sits at the intersection of engineering and project management, acting as the link between design, construction, and client stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Coordination
- Support the Project Manager in delivering substation and/or overhead line (OHL) projects
- Coordinate across design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases
- Develop and track project schedules, deliverables, and milestones
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards
Technical Oversight
- Review and interpret engineering designs, drawings, and specifications
- Provide technical input on:
- Substations (primary & secondary plant)
- Grid connection infrastructure
- HV/MV equipment and layouts
- Identify and resolve technical issues and design ambiguities during execution
Contract & Commercial Management
- Support administration of contracts under:
- NEC4 (PSC/ECSC)
- FIDIC (White Book / Short Forms)
- Assist with:
- Contract compliance
- Variations and claims
- Documentation and reporting
- Act as liaison between client, contractor, and consultants in line with contract requirements
Construction & Site Interface
- Interface with site teams to ensure works are executed according to design and specifications
- Monitor construction progress, quality, and safety
- Support commissioning and handover activities
Stakeholder Management
- Act as a key point of contact for:
- Clients
- Contractors
- Suppliers
- Lead and facilitate technical discussions and coordination meetings
- Ensure alignment across all project stakeholders
Reporting & Controls
- Track project performance, risks, and deliverables
- Prepare progress reports, technical reports, and updates
- Support risk identification and mitigation strategies
Minimum Requirements
- BSc Eng / BEng in Electrical Engineering
- PMP or equivalent project management qualification (advantageous)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience on T&D projects up to 132kV
- Experience in substations and/or overhead lines (OHL)
Technical & Professional Skills
- Strong understanding of:
- Project lifecycle (development → design → construction → operations)
- Grid connection infrastructure
- HV/MV systems
- Working knowledge of:
- NEC4 and/or FIDIC contracts
- Ability to:
- Manage multiple deliverables and stakeholders
- Lead technical discussions confidently
- Interpret and review engineering designs
