Job Description
A high-growth company in the energy and infrastructure sector is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Finance to join their executive leadership team. Reporting directly to the Group CFO and working closely with the business unit CEO, this role is critical to shaping and steering the financial strategy of a key division within the organization.
The Head of Finance will lead all aspects of financial governance, planning, and operational execution. This includes overseeing treasury, capital strategy, budgeting, reporting, and compliance. The role also requires proactive engagement with investors, funding partners, and internal stakeholders to support the company’s mission of enabling South African businesses to reduce costs and carbon emissions through innovative energy solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide strategic leadership and financial direction at the executive level to drive sustainable growth and profitability.

Collaborate on market expansion, investment strategy, and business model innovation.

Build and lead a high-performing finance team that delivers excellence in reporting, analysis, and compliance.

Implement effective governance frameworks that support operational and strategic decision-making.

Drive the development of financial planning tools including forecasts, pricing models, margin analysis, and capital expenditure plans.

Lead all debt and equity financing activities, including negotiations and structuring of equipment and asset-based financing.

Cultivate and maintain relationships with banks, investors, auditors, legal advisors, and other key partners.

Monitor financial market trends and integrate best practices into the company’s financial strategy.

Manage capital planning, funding drawdowns, and financial risk mitigation.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

CA (SA) or equivalent qualification in Finance, Commerce, or related field.

CFA qualification is advantageous.

15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally within energy, infrastructure, or financial services sectors.

Strong knowledge of South African tax regulations and compliance standards.

Proficient in financial systems and tools, with advanced Excel and financial modelling skills.

Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, drive transformation, and communicate complex financial topics clearly.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

Deep understanding of corporate finance, financial engineering, and risk management.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.

High attention to detail with a commitment to data integrity and reporting accuracy.

Experience in managing multifunctional finance operations including FP&A, treasury, insurance, and accounting.

Exposure to revenue recognition practices in trading environments is a plus.
