Job Description
An established player in the heavy lift, crane, maritime and abnormal transport sector is seeking a Senior Technical Sales & Market Development Specialist to lead the expansion of its footprint in the Western Cape.
This is a high-impact, strategic role focused on building a sustainable regional presence, unlocking new business opportunities, and positioning the organisation within the ports, marine, and industrial logistics market.
The ideal candidate will bring strong industry relationships across freight forwarding, shipping, and logistics, along with a deep understanding of port operations and complex project environments.
Role Overview
During the initial phase (first 2–3 months), the focus will be on market intelligence, strategy development, and regional setup, including:

Analysing market opportunities across the Western Cape, including ports, maritime, logistics, crane services, and heavy transport

Identifying key clients, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and EPC contractors

Advising on the optimal location and setup of a regional operational yard

Assessing fleet and equipment requirements for market entry

Recommending team structure and operational footprint

Laying the foundation for a sustainable and profitable regional operation
Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute a regional business development and sales strategy

Identify and secure opportunities across ports, marine, mining, renewables, construction, and petrochemical sectors

Build and maintain strong relationships with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and logistics providers

Secure projects involving heavy lifting, crane rental, abnormal load transport, and specialised logistics
-
Provide technical input and solutions for complex lifting and transport requirements

Collaborate with operations teams to ensure successful project execution

Identify and develop long-term strategic partnerships within the logistics and port ecosystem
-
Contribute to building a high-performing regional team and operational presence
Minimum Requirements
-
7+ years’ experience in technical sales, business development, or project logistics
-
Strong exposure to ports, maritime operations, heavy lift, or abnormal transport environments

Experience within freight forwarding or logistics networks is advantageous

Established relationships with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and port operators

Proven track record in securing large-scale industrial or infrastructure projects

Strong commercial drive with a natural ability to win and grow business
